The scattered and divided Maoist parties and factions are announcing their unification under the UCPN (Maoist) through a joint convention in Kathmandu on Thursday.According to the UCPN (Maoist) Spokesperson Dinanath Sharma, the joint convention will be held on Thursday morning at a party palace in Kathmandu and the unification declaration will be made by Thursday afternoon.”The leaders are in a last-hour meeting now to finalize the unification documents and organizational structure of the unified party,” said Sharma late Wednesday.Majority of the central committee members of the Communist Party of Nepal Revolutionary Maoist (CPNRM) led by Ram Bahadur Thapa on Saturday had formally decided to unite with the UCPN (Maoist). Revolutionary Communist Party of Nepal led by Mani Thapa and leaders from some other Maoist factions also followed suit. However, CPNRM Chairman Mohan Baidya and his supporters are not joining the unification process. -
