May 6: Mother's Day is being celebrated across the country with much gusto. Mother's Day in Nepal falls on the day of Krishna Aaunsi (last day of the dark lunar fortnight in the month of Baisakh) as per the Hindu calendar. People celebrate it in the honor of their mothers for her selfless love, care and sacrifices she makes for them. Peoople throng Matatirtha in the Kathmandu Valley and perform rituals in the honor of their mothers. Others celebrate the day by offering gifts to their mothers.
